A reduction in the atmospheric concentration of CO2 is urgently required if a sustainable society is to be built. The capture of CO2, especially in direct air capture (DAC) systems, is one potential strategy for actualizing negative emissions of CO2. In this study, we provide the new concept of a DAC system utilizing liquid amine-solid carbamic acid phase separation that overcomes the equilibrium limitations for efficient capture of low concentrations of CO2. As depicted in this Cover Art, isophorone diamine [3-(aminomethyl)-3,5,5-trimethylcyclohexylamine] efficiently reacted with the atmospheric CO2 under a large stream, and formed the solid precipitates of 3-(aminomethyl)-3,5,5-trimethylcyclohexyl]carbamic acid. Moreover, this carbamic acid desorbed CO2 with a low energy input, and the capturing/desorption system could be repeated.
